NHL Trade Rumors: Anaheim Ducks looking to add a wing at deadline
Anaheim Ducks general manager Bob Murray confirmed that his team will likely look to add at least one wing by the NHL trade deadline
The Anaheim Ducks have turned from potential sellers to buyers thanks to a recent hot streak that has lasted the past two months. Anaheim’s need is obvious: they need to add some offense. General Manager Bob Murray confirmed that Anaheim will be looking to add at least one wing by the trade deadline on Feb. 29.
It will be interesting to see if Murray can pull off any moves, as teams will most likely ask for one of their restricted free agents. Murray must seriously consider if he should move one of his upcoming restricted free agent defensemen Hampus Lindholm or Sami Vatanen in exchange for a forward. The Ducks will most likely not be able to keep both because they also have Rickard Rakell and Frederik Andersen to worry about.
Anaheim currently finds themselves in second place in the Pacific Division entering Feb. 25 and they trail the first place Los Angeles Kings by just two points. They have invested a lot into this season so it seems likely that they will pursue anything that would help them win without mortgaging their future. Anaheim could pursue Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson, Winnipeg Jets forward Andrew Ladd, Toronto Maple Leafs forward P.A. Parenteau, Calgary Flames forward Jiri Hudler, Montreal Canadiens forward Dale Weise, or any of the other rental options that have been made available.
