According to Rand Getlin, Colin Kaepernick’s agents have requested permission to seek a trade from the San Francisco 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers have some big questions at the quarterback position. After the team benched Colin Kaepernick For Blaine Gabbert last season, it looked like the team might have finally moved on from the quarterback that once led them to the Super Bowl.

Instead, 49ers general manager Trent Baalke announced at the NFL Scouting Combine that Kaepernick would remain on the roster this season. Head coach Chip Kelly even chimed in about the team needing to keep talent instead of getting rid of talent.

It looks like Kaepernick wants no part of that however. According to Rand Getlin, Kaepernick’s agents have requested permission to seek a trade from the 49ers.

There had already been rumors early on in the off-season, that Kaepernick would like a trade to the New York Jets. Many thought with Kelly’s offense, Kaepernick would be a natural fit at quarterback and could run the high-octane system Kelly likes to use.

The latest report by Getlin strongly suggests that’s not the case and that Kaepernick wants out of San Francisco. It might not be a bad thing for either party either. Both sides could use a fresh change of scenery and the 49ers are in a great position to draft one of the young quarterbacks in this year’s draft.
