Derrick Rose: Fantasy Basketball Update
Derrick Rose missed the game on Friday February 26. This comes after some somewhat troubling news for those of us in head to head fantasy basketball leagues. Most of us are fully aware of Rose’s injury history and long-term issue with missing games. However, most of us that are Rose fans would like to see him return to the form that he showed back in his MVP campaign. We see glimmers of hope and see him putting up big numbers in the absence of Jimmy Butler and think he is doing just that.
Well it would seem that his body just can not hold up to the punishment that comes with being the lead guy on a team as he sat out on the 26th and will possibly miss the game on Saturday the 27th. With all of these missed games we know that it benefits the Bulls and any slim chance they have to make a playoff run, but it will kill your head to head fantasy team and your playoff run.

This creates a problem as sometimes a few games from a player can miss a few games and create the difference that turns a playoff win into a playoff loss which is not what we want as fantasy basketball owners.
If you are in a league that can still make trades and you feel that your team has a good shot to win it all then I would suggest putting him on the block and seeing what kind of return you can get in a trade. In a keeper or a dynasty league you can still find decent value from him and if you have a hard time you should go find some owners who are Bulls fans.

Rose has decided that it is time to start listening to his body which is good news for the NBA and for Bulls fans, but it can really cripple a fantasy basketball team that is focused on taking home all the marbles. I think there is a good likelihood that Rose will exercise even more caution as the season wraps up and the Bulls look forward to the playoffs. The fact that they did not trade Pau Gasol seems to say that they will at least try to make a run in the playoffs, although I don’t think they will be highly successful.
Whatever you do with Derrick Rose we wish you the best of luck with all of your fantasy basketball teams.
