Doug McDermott took Paul Millsap to flight school on Friday night, soaring past him for a gorgeous one-handed dunk

The Chicago Bulls are certainly reeling in a big way coming out of NBA All-Star weekend as they are still moving forward without Jimmy Butler due to an injury. However, the Butler injury has opened up the door for several young wings on the Bulls roster to play much larger roles as of late. While E’Twaun Moore has assumed the starting role, second-year forward Doug McDermott has also reaped the benefits and has had the chance to show off his high-flying ability.

On Friday night as Chicago took on the Atlanta Hawks in what was, without question an ugly game, McDermott added a little bit of flair to action. Dougie McBuckets got loose on the break and was hit with a pass on a dime. He then made a B line for the rim and soared right past a charging Paul Millsap for a beautiful one-handed flush:

People really slept on Doug McDermott’s athletic ability immediately after his college career ended, but he put that to rest with his performance at the NBA Scouting Combine when his measurable in regards to vertical leap and others as well were off the charts.

However, McDermott hasn’t shown too terribly much of his ability in that regard over the course of his career—though he has put it on display a bit more with Butler out. If he can continue doing so and continue developing overall, he could very well be a dangerous weapon for the Bulls moving forward.
