Kemba Walker slices through Pacers for game-winning layup (Video)
Kemba Walker gave the Hornets the win off of a gorgeous drive and finger roll layup
The Charlotte Hornets jumped out to big lead on the Indiana Pacers in the third quarter after only going into halftime up by three points. However, the Hornets let that lead slip through their fingers to the point that it was a one-possession game and Charlotte was down by one with only seconds left on the clock. Luckily for the Hornets, point guard Kemba Walker is more than accustomed to playing the role of hero.
After Monta Ellis had put the Pacers up by one, Walker took the dribble to run the offense. Walker got a screen deep on the perimeter from Cody Zeller and used it to split two Pacers defenders and then slash into the lane before maneuvering around Paul George at the rim to put down what turned out to be the game-winning layup for the Hornets:
George had a mid-range jumper after Kemba Walker’s layup to try and win it for Indiana, but it was off to the left.
Walker in the final minutes of a game is truly a whole different animal than for the rest of the game—which is really saying something considering how good the Charlotte point guard has been this season. Despite two separate torn labrums for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and injuries to Al Jefferson throughout the year, Kemba has the Hornets hunting for a playoff spot in the East. A play like this certainly helps the team in that plight.
