After winning the pole for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta, Kyle Busch failed post-qualifying inspection.

On Friday evening, Kyle Busch claimed the pole for the 2016 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. After a strong finish to start the season at the Daytona 500, Busch was looking to capitalize on his momentum heading into Atlanta this week.

After edging out his brother, Kurt Busch, for qualifying, it looked like Kyle was off to a great start for this Sunday’s race. He wants to be able to lock up his spot in the Chase, alongside his teammate Denny Hamlin. However, his challenge just got tougher.

After qualifying, NASCAR cancelled Busch’s time in qualifying, after he failed post-qualifying inspection. It looks like Busch had an issue with the skew of his car, which had passed pre-qualifying inspection.

It’s bad news for Busch, as he will now go directly to the back of the pack on Sunday. The good news is that with 500 miles of racing, Busch will have plenty of laps to work his way up front and he will be very aggressive in his endeavors to get up there.

With Kyle moving all the way to the back, his brother Kurt will now lead the field to start Sunday’s race. One Busch falls out, while another steps in.
