Kyle Lowry has been having an amazing season, but he hasn’t been getting enough attention. However, given the way he’s been playing against the Cleveland Cavaliers, that may change soon.
In a game where his team has been trailing as much as 14, he has willed the Toronto Raptors back in it with a career high 43-point game. His best effort of the game may have been when Iman Shumpert was on him, and made him look like a D-League player:
In a battle of the two best teams in the East, the Raptors have been hanging around all game long, refusing to go down after trailing by a wide margin in the second half. Lowry has been a big part of it, especially with his backcourt buddy DeMar DeRozan picking up flu troubles in the middle of the game.
It shouldn’t be surprising that he has stepped up in a big game. A loss put the Raptors four games back of the Cavaliers and virtually eliminate any possibility of Toronto winning the conference. But his best games of the season have been against Cleveland and Golden State, with a 41-point performance against the latter. When it comes to clutch performers, you’d be hard-pressed to find many better than Kyle Lowry.
