Which drivers are the best bet to pick that will give you a lead in your NASCAR fantasy league(s) after the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500?
After a thrilling beginning to the 2016 season for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at the Daytona 500 last week, it’s time for the drivers to head to Atlanta Motor Speedway this Sunday, for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. Last week, it was Denny Hamlin that captured victory and made many fantasy owners around the world happy.
As always, weekly fantasy advice will be based off of Yahoo!’s NASCAR fantasy rules and procedures. Four drivers are picked by players each week and the drivers ultimately determine how a fantasy player does that particular week in the action.
The great thing about NASCAR is that patterns can determine which drivers do well at certain places and where drivers might struggle. With drivers spending the week practicing and qualifying, it gives extra insight into how a driver might be performing during a particular week. With the history of Atlanta in mind, along with last week’s performances, these are the four best fantasy picks for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500.
Kurt Busch
Kurt Busch had a tremendous run at qualifying on Friday, and although he didn’t win, he will be leading the pack to the field after his brother, Kyle Busch, failed post-qualifying inspection. Busch is a veteran driver that handles the mile and a half tracks quite well and should be a lock to have a high finish on Sunday.
Kyle Busch
Despite being sent to the back of the pack to start Sunday’s race for failing inspection, there was no one that could touch Busch in qualifying. He also is coming off a third place finish at the Daytona 500. Even though he will be starting last, Busch has 500 miles to work his way to the front and it should be considered a lock that he will.
Jimmie Johnson
Jimmie Johnson and the rest of his teammates at Hendrick Motorsports haven’t had the start to the season that they desired. However, there’s no one that dominates Atlanta Motor Speedway quite like Johnson. He’s the defending race winner and it should be assumed he will make noise in the race too.
Kevin Harvick
Another strong runner at the mile and a half tracks is Kevin Harvick. Harvick finished No. 6 in qualifying and will be a factor at the front of the race yet again. If there’s someone determined to grab a spot in the Chase early, it’s Harvick.
