How did the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, become known as the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500?

The annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta has moved around the schedule quite a bit in its history, but it’s found it’s home as the second race of the season, just after the Daytona 500. There have been plenty of great moments at Atlanta, mainly in part because of the unique 1.54-mile track.

The race has become to be known recently, as the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. While the title sponsor of the race has changed over time, there are currently two sponsors of the lone race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. QuikTrip is the famous convenient mart chain across the United States and they are rapidly growing in expansion.

Folds of Honor is a nonprofit organization that helps provide scholarships to the children and spouses of family members that are killed in service. The two sponsors have come together to put their name on the race at Atlanta and have a chance to share their message during the race.

If there’s one guarantee each season, it’s that Atlanta will create memories racing fans won’t forget. Who can forget the time that Carl Edwards won the very first race of his career by defeating Jimmie Johnson in one of the craziest finishes in the track’s history.

There’s only one race at Atlanta a year, but it’s always one to remember. On Sunday, one lucky driver will win the 2016 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 and earn a spot in the Chase.
