NFL Rumors: Browns not interested in Colin Kaepernick trade

The Cleveland Browns are not interested in trading for Colin Kaepernick.

Despite a report this weekend that the Browns and Texans were interested in a possible Colin Kaepernick trade, neither team seems willing to go there.

Houston beat writer John McClain shot down the Texans interest on Sunday, which was quickly followed up by Mary Kay Cabot from the Cleveland Plain-Dealer doing the same for the Browns.

While shooting down the report, Cabot connected the dots that others might have in trying to link Kaepernick to Cleveland. According to Cabot, the interest in Cleveland surrounding Kaepernick goes back to head coach Hue Jackson wanting to draft the quarterback in 2011.

"Kaepernick has been linked to the Browns because coach Hue Jackson loved him when he was head coach of the Raiders in 2011 and Kaepernick was coming out Nevada.  Jackson has said the Raiders tried to trade up to draft, and the lamented the fact it didn’t happen."

Jackson will likely have his pick of the litter when it comes to drafting a future franchise quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick in this April’s draft. Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch seen similar in many ways to Kaepernick, but the speculation continues to suggest that Carson Wentz will be the selection.

Either way, Kaepernick doesn’t appear to be going anywhere other than San Francisco next season. He’s too perfect of a variable for Chip Kelly to experiment with and we all deserve at least one year of whatever the hell we will see.
