Zach LaVine: Fantasy Basketball Update

Zach LaVine is really boosting his value across fantasy leagues and for the Timberwolves as well. LaVine has won the dunk contest for the past two years and so most of us are well aware of his incredible physical dominance and ability to jump out of the gym. LaVine is really learing how to use his athleticism to excel in the game of basketball. There is a big difference is a player who can do well in a dunk contest and a player who can be a star in the NBA.

It is still pretty early in his career, but I believe that LaVine can have NBA star written all over him. Recently he has earned a rotating spot in the Timberwolves lineup and could possibly become a full-time starter before the season comes to a close. I am not real sure why he is not already a full-time starter, but regardless he is averaging 32 minutes a game over the last 15 days.

There is a low likelihood that you will find LaVine on your league’s waiver wire as he is owned in over 60% of ESPN.com leagues, but if he is you will want to go grab him as quick as you can. LaVine is almost certainly going to be a fantasy factor through the end of this season and for several years to come. As well as the 32 minutes per game he is also scoring 16 points with two assists and nearly four rebounds a game over the last 15 days.

With that said I think that clearly LaVine is a guy that you would want to target in your keeper and dynasty leagues. He is in a rare spot that you can target him no matter whether you are looking to win now or building for the future. His athleticism will clearly be a huge benefit for him and I expect him to only get better. The Timberwolves will likely look to wrap him up for the future and make him a star for the future. In keeper and dynasty leagues you can get some early buy-in and hopefully jump on the LaVine train before his price goes out of the roof.
