NFL Rumors: Jeff Fisher, Rams engaged in contract extension talks
By Jack Crosby
Jeff Fisher and the Rams are reportedly talking about keeping him around a little longer.
The Rams are getting set for their first season back in Los Angeles in quite some time, which is a bit of a change. However, what might not be changing about the team anytime soon is who will be coaching them all around.
According to ESPN, the organization is currently in talks with not only Fisher, but his staff as well, about some contract extensions, locking them up for the near future.
Fisher has been the head coach of the Rams since the 2012 season, not having taken the organization to the playoffs since he arrived. He has a 27-36-1 record as the team’s head coach, with his best seasons coming both in 2013 and this past season where they finished 7-9.
However, last season it seemed as if this team is almost ready to turn the corner and start competing in the NFC West. They have a nice young defense they’re building around at the moment, and the offensive side of the ball is only missing a few pieces. By all accounts, you could see where the higher-ups would be willing to keep Fisher and his staff around just a little while longer.
Not to mention, the move to Los Angeles right now is enough pressure, so you don’t want much more put on your shoulders with having to find a new head coach. In a way, this instills a confidence within your new fan base.
It’ll be interesting to see what comes of these talks in the next few weeks.
