5 possible destinations for Mario Williams
On Tuesday, the Buffalo Bills released defensive end Mario Williams.
Williams, 31, is one of the best pass-rushers in National Football league history, registering 96 sacks and 15 forced fumbles throughout his career. Now on the free-agent market, Williams will have plenty of suitors.
Buffalo had no choice but to cut Williams after the team applied the non-exclusive franchise tag to left tackle Cordy Glenn. By cutting Williams, the Bills were able to save $12.9 million and get back under the $155 million salary cap. All NFL teams have to be under the cap by the start of the new league year, which begins at 4 p.m. EST on March 9.
Without question, Williams still has plenty of gas left in the proverbial tank. Despite only having five sacks in Rex Ryan’s system last year (one he openly complained about), Williams will be sought after thanks to his 38 sacks over the previous three seasons.
So, who will Williams end up with? Here are five viable choices for the veteran.
