1. Oakland Raiders

Cap space: $73.945 million

Why he fits: The Raiders are an improving team that went 7-9 last season under first-year head coach Jack Del Rio. The offense is really talented with quarterback Derek Carr, running back Latavius Murray and wide receiver Amari Cooper leading the way. However, outside of wunderkind Khalil Mack at outside linebacker/defensive end, the Raiders have all kinds of problems.

With Charles Woodson going into retirement, Oakland has to find a way to field a decent defense. Spending money to get a combination of Williams and Mack coming off the edge could be ahuge step toward making the postseason for the first time since 2002.

Why it doesn’t work: Oakland is another team that might be looking to stay toward younger free agents. General manager Reggie McKenzie spent early in his tenure on older players, such as LaMarr Woodley and Justin Tuck. However, McKenzie didn’t get the return he was looking for. It might be time for the Raiders to build in a long-term scope, and Williams might be a bad fit in that scenario.
