Golden State Warriors forward Marreese Speights sent Atlanta Hawks center Al Horford’s shot down the court.
With the Warriors having some depth issues against the Atlanta Hawks, because of players resting and Festus Ezeli out after knee surgery, it’s opened up more minutes for players like Marreese Speights. Against Hawks All-Star Al Horford, Speights made a huge play on Tuesday night.
As Horford tried to drive the lane and go up over two defenders, Speights went straight up and swatted his shot way. That might be an understatement on describing the play. Speights blocked Horford’s shot so hard, that it went clear down the other end of the court and the Warriors grabbed possession of it.
Speights has long been a popular guy for the Warriors and he’s seen his minutes decrease overall this season. Part of that has been because of a decline in play and huge improvement by Ezeli. However, with Ezeli out, that means more time for Speights to shine again.
Early on against the Hawks on Tuesday night, Speights was giving it his all against one of the best big men in the NBA. They call him “The Speights Cowboy” in Oakland, and he just sent that one out of orbit.
