Recap, results, full highlights and more from Lucha Underground Season 2, Episode 6
Lucha Underground Season 2 has been incredible for the first five episodes and things are only getting better and better. Subsequently, the excitement for Lucha Underground Season 2, Episode 6 was palpable and for good reason.
The show opened with Mil Muertes worshipping an idol backstage where he apparently called Catrina. They let Mil talk here and, well, it was something they should probably hold back on going forward. He lambasted Catrina for not letting him fight Prince Puma or Pentagon Jr., but Catrina responded by saying that he wouldnāt be there if not for her. When Mil picked her up by the throat and asked to face them both, Catrina said no and did her disappearing act again.
Out at the ring after that, Sexy Star made her return to the ring, facing Kobra Moon. The match was full of back-and-forth action between the two luchadoras, full of counters and responsive offense early on. Though Kobra got a slight upper hand early, Sexy Star rolled her up and seemed to be ready to get the victory when Marty The Moth came out. That allowed Kobra Moon to catch a stunned Sexy by surprise and force her to tap out with a choke. The match was fine, but this Sexy Star-Marty-The Mack angle is full of intrigue.
Another Famous B car commercial is back on, but Rey Mysterio Jr. turned it off of the TV Dragon Azteca Jr. was watching and proceeded to throw down with him, continuing his tutelage. When these two appear in the Temple, itās going to be LIT. Then came a tease for the ladder match main event between King Cuerno and Fenix.
Prince Puma vs. Pentagon Jr. in a rematch from just two weeks ago was up next. With these two men being so familiar with one another, they started off the match smartly with the two luchadors showing off their skills and going back-and-forth until Puma took out Pentagon with a dive to the outside and then a springboard senton. Pentagon fought back, though, with some crazy counters and some of the most wicked chops youāll ever see/hear.
However, Puma was only angered by the chops and started unleashing some kicks and more high-flying moves on his opponent. When he went for a 450 Splash, though, Pentagon moved and was able to get back in control, but thatās when Mil Muertes walked out, removing his sling as he methodically made his way to the ring in an absolutely amazing spot. The action in the ring became secondary with Mil entering the ring to end the match as he took out both luchadors, culminating with a double Flatliner. Please, oh please, let there be a triple threat coming.
Either way, this angle is hot and was completed with Mil and Catrina in the halls of the Temple with Mil making it known that heās back and not happy.
Back at the ring, Aztec Warfare II in three weeks was announced, which is yet another reason to look forward to future episodes.
Main event time! King Cuerno vs. Fenix for the formerās Gift of the Gods title in a ladder match. The champ got the advantage early on, but Fenix evened the odds diving to the outside to take out Cuerno. Fenix tried to steal the title quick by getting a ladder in the ring and climbing, but the champ sent him flying off and then began to use the ladder as a weapon rather than climb himself.
Cuerno then set up two ladders on the outside, but had to go to the outside with Fenix to use them. Thatās when he began meticulously picking apart the challenger with kicks, attacks with the ladder, and everything in between. He finally got Fenix up with him on the top of a ladder on the outside, but the challenger fought back to send Cuerno to the ground, climb to the top of the office in the Temple, and then dive over the ladder and through Cuerno. Fenix is absolutely incredible is what Iām saying.
As Fenix tried to stay the aggressor, though, Cuerno sent him into the stands and the fight went out among the believers with the Gift of the Gods champ on the attack. He then sent Fenix flying off the balcony and into a ladder. As King Cuerno went back down to try and spear Fenix with a ladder, though, the champ missed and hit the post with the ladder to hurt his arm.
However, when Fenix tried again to incapacitate the champ, Cuerno fought back and sent the challenger to the ground with a shot from the ladder. But before the champ could climb to get his belt, Fenix took him out with a kick. This left both men climbing the ladder together and eventually both hanging by the belt before both falling back to the mat.
Cuerno got the upper hand briefly and set up a table in the ring. However, the tables (pardon the pun) got turned on the champ as Fenix countered Thrill of the Hunt from the second rope and was able to ultimately put Cuerno through the table and then climb the winner to become the new Gift of the Gods Champion. This match was everything you wanted it to be and more and things are as hot as ever in Boyle Heights and in Lucha Underground.
