NBA Playoffs 2016: Why Chicago Bulls will make postseason
5. Derrick Rose plays like his old self
If the Chicago Bulls are going to make the playoffs, Derrick Rose is going to have to play like his old self and become a dynamic player for the Bulls again. Now this doesn’t mean posting ridiculous stats like the top superstars of the NBA, but Rose has to make an impact.
When he’s doing big things on the court, it opens everything else up and makes the jobs of the players around him a lot easier. That means driving the hoop, finding the open man and knocking down his own shots consistently. He has to be a guy that teams lock in on, so that Jimmy Butler can have some room to move around a bit when he returns to history.
He also has to show that he can stay healthy and on the court. The Bulls are a lot better with him than without him, but he’s never proven that he can stay completely healthy. This could be something as simple as fighting through some nagging injuries and staying on the court.
As the season winds down, every game is going to have a playoff like atmosphere for the Bulls. Rose knows how to show up when the spotlight is on him and this should be his time to shine. He just needs to get out on the court and do that first.
