According to a report, the Houston Rockets and forward Michael Beasley are closing in on a deal.

The Houston Rockets are spiraling out of control and could be heading for some major changes after the season. With a roster in flux full of pieces that don’t really fit with each other and chemistry at an all-time low, the Rockets are trying to hold on and grab a playoff spot.

While the deadline in the NBA to sign players that are playoff eligible is over, the Rockets aren’t done trying to plug the holes on their sinking ship. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Rockets and free agent forward Michael Beasley are closing in on a deal.

Beasley had been playing overseas in China and wasn’t able to sign with a team until his season overseas had come to an end. This is certainly a strange move for the Rockets, as they’re trying to keep things from completely falling apart.

Beasley has been on many teams that tried to get rid of him in the past and he’s certainly had his fair share of issues on and off the court. While he may be perfectly fine in Houston and well behaved, he doesn’t seem like the type of piece that the Rockets should be adding right now.

The last thing the franchise needs at this moment is more distractions. The addition of Beasley could potentially increase the amount of distractions surrounding the team and more. The Rockets are desperate and trying to do whatever they can to hold on. At this point, it might be better to just let the ship sink and build a new one.
