The New York Yankees slugger made his presence known during his first at-bat of Spring Training.
He may not be the most liked person in the sport, but you can’t deny that Alex Rodriguez will go down as one of the best to ever play Major League Baseball. The 40-year-old is still going strong for the New York Yankees, where he will continue to spend most of his time as a designated hitter for the Bronx Bombers during the 2016 season.
While there may be some chatter that A-Rod has lost a step and may not be the same player he was a decade ago, Rodriguez wasted no time quieting critics with his first swing of spring training. As the Yankees hosted the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday, A-Rod took the second pitch he saw deep for the two run homer on his first swing of the spring:

Alex Rodriguez had what could be called a surprise season in 2015 when he hit 33 home runs after coming back from his suspension for the entire 2014 season for use of performance enhancing drugs. The Yankees have said that A-Rod will almost exclusively be used as the team’s DH this season, possibly sitting out interleague games played at National League ballparks.
