With Andre Johnson’s release from the Indianapolis Colts Friday, here are five reasons that the New England Patriots should sign the veteran wide receiver.
On Friday, the Indianapolis Colts decided to part ways with 13-year NFL veteran wide receiver Andre Johnson after just one season with the Colts. Johnson had spent his first 12 seasons in the NFL with the Houston Texans as one of the best wide receivers in football the last decade.
While Johnson will play the 2016 NFL season at 35 years of age, there is still something left in the tank for the Canton bound wide receiver who went to the upstart Texans No. 3 overall way back in the 2003 NFL Draft out of the University of Miami.
Johnson is a seven-time Pro Bowler, a two-time All-Pro wide receiver, and the greatest wideout in the Texans’ brief history. He has been able to put together a Hall of Fame-caliber career for the last 13 NFL seasons with 1,053 career receptions, 14,100 career receiving yards, and 68 career touchdown catches.
While Johnson has had a great deal of individual success on the gridiron in his lengthy NFL career, a trip to the Super Bowl has evaded the veteran wideout all 13 years. One potential destination for Johnson to continue his NFL career might actually help him achieve his dreams of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. Here are five reasons that the New England Patriots should sign Johnson this offseason in free agency for the 2016 NFL season.
