The NHL Department of Player Safety has suspended Coyotes forward Max Domi one game for instigating on Thursday against the Ducks

Arizona Coyotes forward Max Domi is the son of longtime enforcer Tie Domi. The younger Domi is far more talented than his father but he often proves that he is his father’s son by getting physical. Tie Domi should be proud of what his son did on Thursday against the Anaheim Ducks.

Ducks forward Ryan Garbutt hit Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson into the boards late during Anaheim’s win over the Coyotes. The young Domi deemed that hit to be unnecessary and stood up for his teammate by laying the smackdown on Garbutt.

Max Domi did not apologize for his actions either.

Larsson has been the target of numerous questionable hits as of late. It appears that Domi had enough of it and now will be suspended for one game automatically according to the rulebook. The rules also dictate that Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett will get a $10,000 fine and he cannot appeal it.

Domi has 17 goals and 26 assists for 43 points this season in 64 games. He has 50 penalty minutes as well. Domi has done a terrific job of not being like his father, but sometimes he channels him in a good way. The young forward has proven that he won’t allow anyone to get away with going after his teammates, which is quite impressive for someone his age.
