ESPN analyst Curt Schilling came up with a bad excuse for his recent comments regarding Hillary Clinton.
Curt Schilling has a problem with saying insane things and not understanding why anyone gets upset with him.
His most recent comments came on a Kansas City radio station where he said Hillary Clinton should be “buried under a jail.” Not exactly a good look for ESPN trying to maintain no political stance as a network.
This caused a problem not only because it was a crazy thing to say as a public figure and a representative of ESPN, but because the network recently posted its guidelines for covering the 2016 election.
As expected, Schilling’s comments did not exactly follow said guidelines.
An article on For The Win explains how Schilling said he didn’t see the guidelines, and that the message went to his spam folder.
While it is very possible a mass email did indeed go to his spam folder, his frequent radical comments are beginning to be too much to keep him around.
Schilling was great as a player, but it is clear he cannot keep himself from making politically-charged comments on a somewhat regular basis. ESPN needs to cut him loose and remove him from any coverage on the network.
He has already faced several suspensions from Sunday Night Baseball, and will not be in the booth this season. Keeping the PR disaster that is Curt Schilling is a bad business move on the part of ESPN.
