Steve Kerr will gladly make sure that his players are fresh before the Warriors worry about history.

Right now we are in the middle of seeing quite possibly the greatest regular season performance in NBA history. The Golden State Warriors are just absolutely tearing through the competition and it doesn’t seem as if they’re stopping anytime soon. After their win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night, their record now stands at 55-5 and they have the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ 72-10 record firmly in their sights.

However, with the season coming down the home stretch here, people are beginning to wonder whether or not key Warriors players will eventually see some time on the bench in the regular season as they get set for a playoff run. Of course, this puts head coach Steve Kerr in quite the position. Does he want to keep his players fresh or does he want history?

Well, the answer to that one is easy. Kerr believes the rest is more important than etching their name in the record books with the best regular season in the history of the NBA.

“Resting, that will take precedence,” Kerr said via Yahoo. “We will rest guys if they need it before we will go for any kind of streak or record, that’s for sure.”

As much as people might not wanna admit it because they want to see that history so badly, Kerr is correct here. Making sure that the likes of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson are rested and healthy heading into the NBA Playoffs to defend their NBA title is absolutely more important than risking fatigue or freak injury in the regular season.

It’d be fantastic to see them pull off the regular season feat, but for Kerr, it’d be a lot better if he can hoist a second straight Larry O’Brien trophy.
