A look at the 2016 MEAC Tournament bracket that will get underway next week

College basketball fans around the country are gearing up for the best month of the year as March Madness is taking shape and the 2016 NCAA Tournament is almost upon us. Before the madness can truly begin, though, the auto-bids to the Big Dance have to be determined through the conference tournament champions. One of those auto-bids will be the champs from the 2016 MEAC Tournament.

The 2016 MEAC Tournament will tip off on Monday, March 7 with two games as the No. 5 Savannah State Tigers taking on the No. 12 Delaware State Hornets and the No. 6 North Carolina A&T Aggies taking on the No. 11 Coppin State Eagles. The first round continues on March 8 as well as the No. 8 Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks face the No. 9 Morgan State Bears and the No. 7 NC Central Eagles go up against the No. 10 Howard Bison.

The second-round games will get started on March 10, which is when the top-seeded favorites in the Hampton Pirates will kick off their run in the 2016 MEAC Tournament. However, you can’t count out the No. 2 South Carolina State Bulldogs or the No. 3 Norfolk State Spartans in regards to knocking off the Pirates and earning the automatic bid.
