Nick Foles trade rumors: Cowboys, Redskins and Dolphins interested
By Jack Crosby
Nick Foles might be on the trading block and there are a few teams possibly interested.
The Rams are heading back to Los Angeles, and right now the quarterback of the franchise is Nick Foles, who the team acquired in a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles prior or last season in exchange for Sam Bradford. It was a blockbuster deal at the time, and some saw Foles as the leader of the offense for the Rams for the next few seasons.
Well, Foles’ stay with the Rams might actually be shorter than some originally thought.
According to Ian Rapoport, there is not only the possibility that the Rams could trade Foles, but there will be three teams lined up to listen to some of the offers.
Should they actually deal the quarterback, all three of these teams make sense.
In the case of the Cowboys, they need a viable backup for Tony Romo. As we saw last season, when Romo is out, the wheels completely come off. And with his string of collarbone injuries, you always have to be ready for the worst case scenario. Foles would fit the bill as that viable backup in case Romo goes down again. Not to mention, as far as trades go, the Cowboys do have that sexy No. 4 pick on the draft that the Rams might be interested in.
As for the Redskins, while they seem pretty content with Kirk Cousins, they will be parting ways with Robert Griffin III, so their franchise signal-caller needs someone behind him in case of emergency as well. It’s all well and good to have someone in Cousins who just helped you win a division title, but you still need a good backup on the roster.
And the Dolphins, well, how many more chances can Ryan Tannehill get to succeed at the level they want him to? While some aren’t willing to give up on him just yet, the fact of the matter is that he’s not been progressing at the rate he really should be, so he might be on thin ice in regards to being the starter. Having someone like Foles right behind him chomping at the bit would probably be a good investment. He’ll either push Tannehill to get it together, or be there ready to step in if he doesn’t.
