The world’s third-ranked golfer couldn’t believe he missed one putt during the second round in Doral.

This weekend, some of the top names in golf are in the suburbs of Miami to participate in one of the top tournaments of the year, the WGC-Cadillac Championship. After a surprising first round that saw some new names at the top of the leaderboard (and one familiar name in veteran lefty Phil Mickelson), the top names in the game have stepped up during Friday’s second round to make things interesting heading into the weekend.

One of those stars who had a great Friday is Rory McIlroy. After finishing just one under par during day one, McIlroy showed up during round two and, for a while, was tied for the lead with shots like this on the 15th hole to tie for the lead with Adam Scott:

"Tied at the top.Rory McIlroy drains this 23-footer to join Adam Scott at 7 under. #QuickHits https://t.co/7XRaBx7BRu— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) March 4, 2016"

On the following whole, McIlroy had a chance to take the outright lead with this putt that looks like it was going in until the last possible second:

"The look of utter disbelief. #QuickHits https://t.co/bMN2TptYx0— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) March 4, 2016"

The look on Rory’s face is one that has been made by golfers at any level who can’t believe they missed a shot like that. McIlroy will find himself in one of the final groups heading into Saturday’s third round with a legit shot of bringing home his first title at the Blue Monster.
