Ayesha Curry, wife of Golden State Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry, went to Twitter after her husband’s team lost to the Lakers
The Golden State Warriors may have lost an embarrassing game on national television versus the Pacific Division rival in the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday afternoon, 112-95, but wife of the Warriors’ best player Stephen Curry, Ayesha Curry, simply pointed out the obvious on her Twitter account.
Yes, 55-6 is an absolutely, undeniably fantastic regular season record to have, but even the best team in the league in 20 years can’t beat the worst team in the Western Conference when they shoot 13.3% from three-point range.
55-6 is a borderline crazy win/loss record, but the 2015-16 NBA regular season isn’t over yet. Golden State will have to go 18-3 in the team’s final 21 games to best the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ regular season record of 72 wins.
Keep in mind that the second place San Antonio Spurs have won eight games in a row and are only three games back of the top-seeded Warriors in the loss column in the Western Conference. The Spurs will enter play Monday night versus the Indiana Pacers at 53-9.
Interestingly, all 15 of the combined losses between the Warriors and the Spurs have all been on the road. Golden State may be 26-0 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, but San Antonio is even better than that at AT&T Center, going a staggering 30-0 at home this season.
Both of these Western Conference behemoths will have to meet three more times before the end of the 2015-16 NBA Season: March 19th at San Antonio, April 7th at Golden State, and April 10th at San Antonio.
With the home team probably favored to win all three of those remaining games, that means Warriors can only lose one more game this year and still achieve an unprecedented 73 wins this year. 55-6 sounds lovely, but that sixth loss on the year to the lowly Lakers that have only won 13 games this season may end up costing Curry and the Warriors a chance at NBA history.
