The 2016 NCAA Tournament is just around the corner and college basketball fans everywhere surely can’t contain their excitement about the next episode of March Madness. Before it can get truly wild at the best time of the sports year, though, the auto-bids must be determined via the conference tournament champions. One tourney that could put a Cinderella into March Madness is the 2016 Big West Tournament.

Starting on Thursday, March 10, the 2016 Big West Tournament will tip-off with the eight teams in the league squaring off in what serves as the de-facto quarterfinals. However, the Big West Tournament has a bit of a different format in that the highest seed to advance to the semifinals will play the lowest seed to advance and then the two middle seeds will play one another—as opposed to just advancing in the bracket.

As for who to watch in the Big West Tournament, the regular season came down to a two-team race between the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and the UC Irvine Anteaters, who finished tied in conference record and are seeded one-two in the Big West Tournament. Though an upset could always be on the docket, those two teams have to called the favorites at this point.
