Brad Keselowski won the Kobalt 400 on Sunday, but made an embarrassing error while celebrating.

Brad Keselowski won his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of the season at the Kobalt 400 on Sunday afternoon. After picking up the checkered flag and starting to do his donuts, Keselowski dropped the American flag while spinning around.

He is a major proponent of the United States and those who serve the nation. As a result, he keeps an American flag in his car for use if he wins the race. His effort paid off and he overcame the wacky weather and a speeding penalty to win his first race of the season.

His error with the flag drew boos from a crowd that let it known they didn’t like him in pre-race events. Yet, once he picked up the flag and waved it again the crowd started cheering again. It wasn’t an intentional mistake and fans shouldn’t hate him for it. With the wind whipping on the track, it’s not surprising that the American flag fell out of his hand.

Brad Keslowski has a lot to celebrate this week as his Team Penske teammate, Joey Logano, finished right behind him at Las Vegas. The duo can take the night having fun, but the West Coast swing of races continues next week in Phoenix, so come Monday it will be business as usual.
