Manchester City fans troll Aston Villa with a hilarious chant about signing up a pigeon.
Aston Villa are terrible. They are bottom of the Premier League, staring down relegation and could be sentenced to the lower echelons of English football for many years to come. In true British fashion, Manchester City fans have taken great joy from Villa’s misfortunes, enjoying their 4-0 victory over the Birmingham based club by barbing Villa fans with a hilarious chant involving a rogue pigeon.
The pigeon had made its way onto the pitch during the second half of City’s demolition of Villa, prompting City fans to chant “there’s only one greedy pigeon” and “Villa, sign him up”. Such excellent banter is famous among English soccer fans, and City’s supporters were certainly in fine voice on Saturday.
The game itself saw the Manchester club reignite their title challenge with a sumptuous second half performance, with two goals from Sergio Aguero as well as one from Yaya Toure and Raheem Sterling. City looked back to their fluent best in the latter half of the match, and will be hoping to leap frog Arsenal when they face Newcastle as their game in hand.
Villa, meanwhile, will be simply hoping that their dismal campaign will just end sooner rather than later. They will be relegated come May and will now look to rebuild to rebound from the Championship. Manager Remi Garde has cut a forlorn figure throughout his tenure at the club, and has recently looked more and more downhearted.
City’s fans, on the other hand, are in fine fettle, and are letting all of Aston Villa know about it.
