Which drivers are trending up and which drivers are trending down after the 2016 Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway?

The 2016 Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was another strange day on the track for NASCAR. The race had plenty of cautions, but only one real major wreck on the day. It was a day of strange weather, which ended up having a result on the cautions.

Before the race could begin at Las Vegas, there was a 25-minute delay because of rain and wind gusts that reached 25 mph. The rain would leave the track, but the wind would remain and conditions on the track were a mess that drivers had to navigate the entire day.

Kurt Busch came into the race on the pole Sunday, but he had issues of his own that he had to deal with. He had to deal with debris blowing around from the win on the grill of his car, but it was a pit stop that ended up costing him early.

Busch would speed down pit road and would be penalized. Still, Busch battled back to the front, but late in the race he would get tangled up in a major wreck that involved Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards and others. While that was all happening, it was the drivers of Team Penske, Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski, that dominated on the day.

Kyle Busch would work late to take the lead, but after a change to his right side tires, he began having issues with his car and Keselowski would be too fast for Busch to hold off. As a result, Keselowski would win the Kobalt 400 and the third spot in the Chase.

After an exciting finish on a weird day, many drivers are trending up, while many are trending down. Here’s this week’s NASCAR Power Rankings.
