Denver Airport pays tribute to Peyton Manning with gate sign (Photo)
With Peyton Manning formally announcing his retirement, the Denver Airport decided to pay tribute to him with their gate sign.
On Monday afternoon, one of the greatest to ever play the game stepped down. Peyton Manning formally announced his retirement in Denver, in a ceremony where Manning choked back tears amid his peers, friends and family. It was Manning’s chance to say thank you for everyone that has supported him along the way.
With everyone coming out to thank the former Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts quarterback, the Denver Airport gave Manning a pretty cool tribute. At the airport on Monday, Gate B18 was illuminated with Manning’s name. As passengers would walk by, the gate sign read Manning’s name in big red letters.
It’s only fitting that gate 18 donned Manning’s name. There will never be another No. 18 quite like him and to see everyone that he has played with or played for come out to say thanks one last time was a fitting end to a great career.
Anyone flying through gate 18 on Monday had to have that special Hall of Fame feeling boarding their plane. It’s a cool honor and perhaps they can permanently rename the gate after him.
