Carson Wentz. 2. player. 53.
At this point, it would be pretty surprising (at least to me) if the Browns went in another direction.

As discussed previously with regard to the Titans, there is always the possibility that Tennessee peddles the top pick to the point where Cleveland is threatened enough to move up in their own right. Still, the most likely scenario remains that the Browns will stay put at number two and take “their guy” at the quarterback position. After the combine, that appears to be Carson Wentz.

Wentz tested quite well, including a large hand size to keep with a trend that NFL teams enjoy, and he is a player that has seen his star rise in a significant way in the last few months. There will never be full “safety” in taking a quarterback that played against FCS competition over a player in California’s Jared Goff that succeeded for multiple years in the Pac-12, but Wentz almost looks more polished and he is certainly more NFL-ready from a body standpoint given his overall thickness and athleticism.

In the end, we don’t know that the Browns like Wentz more than Goff, but most in the industry have fashioned an educated guess to that end. What we do know is that Cleveland desperately needs a quarterback to move on from the stench of Johnny Manziel (and every quarterback before him, to be honest) and the organization appears poised to take a signal-caller.
.
