The Dolphins are set to acquire Kiko Alonso and Byron Maxwell from the Eagles.
The NFL season doesn’t officially start until March 9th, but there are already moves being lined up in the queue to be made. Signings will be the biggest thing we look for, but trades can be made official on the first day of the new league year as well.
Already, the Miami Dolphins are making moves to try and shore up their defense in a big way. They were rumored to be working on a deal with the Eagles that would ship former Seahawks cornerback Byron Maxwell to South Beach, but he’s not the only name on the move.
According to Adam Schefter from ESPN.com, the Dolphins are acquiring not only Byron Maxwell but also Kiko Alonso.

source.
This is interesting for more than one reason. The Dolphins are going in big to get Maxwell, who is owed a ton of money from Philly and will now count against Miami’s cap.
But from the Eagles standpoint, the team is truly cleansing itself of the Chip Kelly era in the franchise’s history. If you remember, Alonso was the guy that Chip traded LeSean McCoy to Buffalo for.
None of this can be made official until the first day of the new league year, but it’s looking like the Dolphins are going from being all-in on free agency last year to building through trades this offseason.
