Big Boss Man is the fourth inductee into the 2016 class for the WWE Hall of Fame

With WrestleMania 32 happening in Dallas inside Cowboys Stadium in less than a month, WWE is really trying to make everything happening a huge spectacle—including the WWE Hall of Fame. They started that out by first announcing Sting as the likely headliner for the class, but joining The Icon, The Godfather, and The Fabulous Freebirds is a fourth inductee sure to make the class bigger: Big Boss Man.

Big Boss Man’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame has been a long time coming as he’s one of the most underrated and unique talents in the history of the company and in pro wrestling in general. Sure, the gimmick of him in the full police officer get-up and beating foes with a nightstick was incredible, but he was also a 300-pound wrestler that could move with the agility of a man 100 pounds lighter than him.

Boss Man, real name Raymond Traylor Jr., first entered the squared circle for Jim Crockett Promotions back in the mid-1980s before signing with WWF in 1988 and was with the company until 1993 when he went to WCW before returning to WWF/E in 1998. Over his time in WWF/E, Big Boss Man won the WWF Hardcore Championship on four separate occasions and was also a one-time WWF Tag Team champ with Ken Shamrock as his partner. He wrestled his last match with the company in May 2002 before moving into a training role prior to his release in 2003.

Tragically, Traylor passed away in September 2004 from a heart attack at just 41 years old. 12 years after his death, it’s due time that WWE pays homage to his contributions to the business and to WWE.

Raise your nightsticks high and celebrate this moment as Big Boss Man is finally going into the WWE Hall of Fame.
