LeBron James: Cavs aren’t ready for playoffs

After Cleveland’s loss to Memphis last night, LeBron James expressed how he truly felt about the state of the Cavs.

Over their last eight games, the Cleveland Cavaliers have gone 4-4, with two of those losses at home against the Detroit Pistons, and last night against the Memphis Grizzlies. Despite being 44-18 and having the best record in the East, LeBron James said last night that his team is not ready for the playoffs.

The Cavaliers beat the Chicago Bulls, the current eight seed in the East, a couple of weeks ago, more recently, the Cavs lost to number two seed just over a week ago, the Toronto Raptors.

Although the Cavs got the coaching change that it seemed most of the players wanted, there are still many problems with Cleveland after hiring Tyronn Lue. Since his hire, Lue has led the Cavs to a 14-7 record. David Blatt had the Cavs at 30-11, which is significantly better than the Lue’s record, the coach the players, including LeBron, said they wanted.

LeBron is not misinformed, though. He knows that even though the Cavs are atop the Eastern Conference and look to stay that way for the playoffs, the Cavs are not ready. To beat the team they would likely play in the Finals, Golden State, or even San Antonio, the Cavs have to be more consistent.

This team has the talent to get back to the Finals, with LeBron, Kyrie, and Kevin Love. But if they want to beat the Warriors in a seven-game series, LeBron knows they have a lot of work to do to take down the reigning champs.
