Quarterback Brock Osweiler is reportedly narrowing his choices down to re-signing with the Broncos or heading to Houston.

Now that Peyton Manning has officially hung up his cleats following a spectacular 18-year career in the NFL, it appears that the Denver Broncos are ready to hand over the keys to their offense to Brock Osweiler on a permanent basis.

After going 5-2 as a starter during the season while filling in for Manning, Osweiler has more than proven he is ready to lead the defending Super Bowl champions. That is, as long as he’s staying in the Mile High City.

According to ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter, there may be another team in the running with the Broncos to land the four-year veteran:

The Broncos are hoping that Osweiler stays with the team — in part because they have so many other free agents to deal with in their own house that they don’t need to worry about having to sign a quarterback in the offseason if he does indeed leave for a different location.

In eight total games last season (including those seven starts), Brock Osweiler threw for just under 2,000 yards to go with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions and completed 62 percent of his passes. Currently, the only other quarterback on the Broncos’ roster is Trevor Siemian, a 2015 rookie who didn’t attempt a single pass all season.

Should the Broncos part ways with Brock Osweiler, some free agent options could include Robert Griffin III, who was recently let go by the Washington Redskins, and Ryan Fitzpatrick, who is expected to re-sign with the New York Jets.
