WWE WrestleMania 32: John Cena confirms he won’t be wrestling

John Cena confirmed at a press conference that he will not be wrestling at WWE WrestleMania 32

Because he possesses super human healing powers and has made incredibly fast returns from injury in the past, there has been a ton of speculation about whether or not John Cena would be able to return to the ring in time for WWE WrestleMania 32. Even if it seemed like a pipe dream, Cena continuously posted videos of himself training on only seemingly increased the rumblings that he was coming back. Out of the mouth of Captain-Never-Give-Up himself, though, John Cena will not be wrestling at WrestleMania 32.

On Tuesday as several representatives from WWE, including Cena, were in Orlando, FL to officially announce the Citrus Bowl as the site of WrestleMania 33 in 2017, Cena broke the news to everyone with official confirmation that he will not be able to heal from his shoulder surgery in time to be able to enter the squared circle at WrestleMania 32, pre Wrestling Inc. In his comments, Cena lamented the fact that this is the first time in a “decade and a half” that he’ll be missing Mania and said that the event means the world to him.

Though John Cena won’t be wrestling, you have to imagine that WWE will surely have him involved with WrestleMania 32 in some capacity. After all, the company is already bringing in The Rock in a non-wrestling role as they are trying to pack Cowboys Stadium in Dallas to capacity, so bringing in another mega star to the show wouldn’t be out of character in the slightest.

Moreover, this at least somewhat confirms the reports that Shane McMahon will indeed be stepping into Hell In a Cell with The Undertaker after there had been rampant speculation that Shane might bring in a returning John Cena to compete as his proxy.

Love him or hate him, it’s going to be strange seeing WrestleMania 32 without Cena on the card. However, he’ll be back still sooner than anyone expected and the love-hate relationship between the WWE’s biggest star and fans will continue without missing a beat.
