Who’s hot and who’s not heading into the 2016 Good Sam 500 at Phoenix International Raceway?

Three weeks of racing are in the books and the contenders on the season for NASCAR are beginning to emerge early in 2016. It’s been quite the start to the season thus far for the Sprint Cup Series, as the Daytona 500 was one of the most classic races ever and the following two races were some of the more stranger races that have been seen in recent memory.

This past week at Las Vegas, Brad Keselowski became the third driver to punch their ticket to the Chase. Keselowski blew past Kyle Busch with laps remaining and there was no one that could match him at the very windy Kobalt 400. After a big win by Keselowski and a strong showing by Team Penske, NASCAR will head to Phoenix this week for the 2016 Good Sam 500. Phoenix is one of the few tracks where it is measured in kilometers and not miles.

Last year in the spring race at Phoenix International Raceway, Kevin Harvick was the big winner and dominated one mile track that is like a road course. Dale Earnhardt Jr. would win the fall race after it was called halfway because of a major rain storm.

This week, plenty of drivers are going to be competing to become the fourth driver to punch their ticket to the Chase. Should a new driver win this week, than one-fourth of the field for the Chase would be officially set.
