Astros manager A.J. Hinch was rewarded for his efforts last season with an extension.
The Houston Astros had an incredible season last year. After being picked by many to finish in last or at least close to it, the Astros took the World Series champion Kansas City Royals to five games in their American League Divisional Series matchup. A huge part of that was due to manager A.J. Hinch who did a wonderful job coaching up the young players and helping them succeed. He was rewarded for his efforts with an extension.
"“Club policy’s going to be we’re not going to talk about details and things like that,” said Hinch, via the Houston Chronicle. “But, to say I’m thrilled to be the manager here, and have them address me with the respect that they have is an understatement. I love it here and I love how I’ve been treated.”"
Hinch got a second chance with the Astros to manage after his stint with the Arizona Diamondbacks as their manager didn’t end well. He managed them from 2009 to 2010. After A.J. Hinch was fired from his role as the Padres Vice President of Professional Scouting in August of 2014, the Astros signed him in September to be their manager.

Hinch made some mistakes early in his managerial career with the Diamondbacks. It seems that he has learned from those mistakes and has used them as learning experiences to be a better manager. Arizona should be very god this year with Zach Greinke and Shelby Miller taking the bump.
