Mario Chalmers had to be helped off the court against Boston with a scary non-contact injury.
Basketball injuries always vary, from having some soreness and wanting to skip a game to having something go seriously wrong for you. Mario Chalmers endured the latter on Wednesday night against the Celtics.
The Grizzlies guard, who was acquired this season in a trade with the Miami Heat, went down with a non-contact ankle injury in which he needed to be helped off the court.
Here’s a look at the injury — it’s not pretty.
It’s hard to determine just how Chalmers injured himself, as it was about as non-contact as it gets. There is no official word on his status at the moment but this isn’t a good look.
Chalmers was visibly hobbling off the court and wasn’t putting an ounce of weight on his ankle. He was heard saying that he felt his ankle pop — which seems to indicate a possible achilles injury. The Grizzlies have Lance Stephenson to roll out in a larger role, not that such a thing is desirable, but the injury woes continue for Memphis.
Mario Chalmers down, needs to be helped off. Saw him say, "I heard it pop."

They’re still in the playoffs out West, holding onto the No. 5 seed which would give them a first-round matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers. The way things have been going lately though, there might be a playoff bracket shakeup in the very near future for Memphis.
