The Philadelphia Eagles will reportedly sign ex-Rams safety Rodney McLeod once free agency starts.
The Philadelphia Eagles are looking for a roster makeover this offseason after firing head coach Chip Kelly. One of the biggest areas of need for them is their secondary. Lacking experienced, proven safeties, the Eagles have reportedly signed former Rams safety Rodney McLeod.
Former Rams S Rodney McLeod will go to the Eagles on a 5-year, $37 million deal that includes $17 guaranteed, per source.

McLeod is known for being a solid run stopper. He had a career-high 81 tackles in 2015 with the Rams and 232 tackles in 48 games over the past three seasons. He’s also nabbed 5 career interceptions, including one last season, and 6 career fumble recoveries, including one last season. He forced a career-best three fumbles in 2015 and has six forced fumbles in his career.

The Eagles defense struggled last year against the run. McLeod can definitely be an upgrade at strong safety for them. He isn’t great in coverage, but he can hold his own and not be a liability. McLeod was signed by the Rams in 2012 as an undrafted free agent after going to college at the University of Virginia.
Philadelphia overpaid a little bit to get McLeod, but he should be well worth the price for a defense that desperately needs to be upgraded.
