Robert Griffin III: Fantasy Football Update
Robert Griffin III is currently looking for a new team to sign with. There are lots of rumors and speculation about where he will eventually land and I want to take a few minutes to look at what his fantasy value might be. Of course none of us can know any of these things, but that is what we do and we try to be as accurate as we can here.
Yesterday on SportsCenter Ed Werder suggested that the best fit for the former Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III’s best landing spot could be with the San Francisco 49ers. That would put him under Chip Kelley who is one of the most innovative minds in all of football. Of course that could all depend on what happens with Colin Kaepernick.
As of the writing of this article a few of the major dominoes have fallen. Brock Osweiler is reportedly signing with the Houston Texans. The Texans were said to not be interested in Griffin as well as the Cowboys. There are however reports that there are at least six to ten teams that believe they can remake Griffin on and off the field and help him to learn to be a pocket passer.

A few of the most likely destinations for Griffin now remaining would be the Rams, Browns and now the Broncos. The Broncos would be a great place for Griffin to land as there are plenty of weapons already in place for him there. His strong-arm would likely be well received by Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. C.J. Anderson would also be there to take some pressure off of Griffin and keep the chains moving for this offense.
The Browns for me are a much less appealing destination unless Josh Gordon is reinstated. With Gordon if he is focused they could have the most appealing destination. I believe that Gordon has the talent to be one of the better wide receivers to ever play the game. With Griffin’s arm strength he could easily put up a whole gaggle of touchdowns this season.

The Rams actually could be a mildly interesting landing spot for Robert Griffin III as well. With one of the most talented rushers to enter the NFL in several season he could keep a ton of pressure off of Griffin and keep defenses honest. They would need to add a WR at some point as I just don’t think that Tavon Austin will be a #1 type of guy, but they could prove to be a nice fit with Griffin.

For what it is worth we have a while to wait and see where Griffin lands in order to establish a solid fantasy value for him, but I believe that he will certainly be on my radar for teams. I would consider trading for him in a dynasty league if the price is right and I will certainly look to draft him with a late round pick.
