No. 21 Iowa State Cyclones vs No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners

Iowa State has been one of those consistent programs who seem to be in the Big 12 title race year in and year out, but without head coach Fred Hoiberg for the first time in recent memory, things are a little different. The Cyclones are still one of the top teams in the conference, but 21-10 is not as good a mark as they usually put up by the end of the regular season.

Senior forward Georges Niang has seemingly been part of the program for a decade now, but in his last year, he’s been great. He’s averaging 19.4 points and 6.2 rebounds, but his success has been overshadowed by Buddy Hield of Oklahoma. Point guard Monte Morris has also been great, putting up 14.2 points and 7.1 assists per game.

Oklahoma began the season red-hot, posting a 19-2 mark through 21 games, but ended the year with a 5-4 mark. Although the Sooners were still 24-6 on the year, they fell from the conference’s top team to the No. 3 seed in the Big 12 Tournament in just a matter of weeks. This team will still be a Final Four favorite in the Big Dance.

As mentioned before, Buddy Hield is one of the best players in all of college basketball, averaging 25.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while also making 47 percent of his threes. Ryan Spangler is another name to keep an eye on as the big man is averaging nearly a double-double with 10.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
