New and highly paid Jacksonville Jaguars defensive lineman Malik Jackson had some derogatory comments for his old team, the Denver Broncos, on his way out the door.

Most people don’t like to burn bridges with former employers because you just never know. Malik Jackson isn’t like most people, as the ink probably isn’t even dry on his big new contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars and he’s already lighting up the Broncos over their free agency departures.

Jackson insinuated to NFL Media that his old team could have kept him, linebacker Danny Trevathan (off to the Chicago Bears) and quarterback Brock Osweiler (soon to be suiting up for the Houston Texans) if they had only tried a little harder.

Of course it’s not quite that simple, given that there’s a salary cap involved in any NFL team’s calculus. In Osweiler’s case, there’s also the very real chance that hurt feelings — now possibly reciprocated by the team — are involved in his exit.

Jackson also has a history of speaking his mind without fear of consequences, seemingly unafraid of giving Tom Brady bulletin board material before the AFC Championship Game by calling him a whiner. In other words, it’s more of the same for the defensive end.

Go on and burn those bridges big man, because it just makes the already fascinating NFL free agency tango that much more entertaining.
