Northwestern Wildcats vs Michigan Wolverines
Kicking off the second round of the Big Ten Tournament, the Northwestern Wildcats will look to record their 21 win of the year. The Wildcats have yet to make the NCAA Tournament in school history, but they might just miss out once again despite having a decent record. Losing 10 Big Ten games and having a best win against Wisconsin shows a lackluster resume.

Veteran Tre Demps will be leading the Wildcats, hoping to make the tourney before his career at Northwestern wraps up. He’s averaging a team-high 15.5 points along with 3.3 assists per game. Point guard Bryany McIntosh has been a solid complementary player to Demps, averaging 13.6 points and a team-best 6.7 assists per game.
Michigan, on the other hand, is looking to avoid missing the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season and that’s very possible because of the absence of Caris LeVert. The senior guard was expected to be an All-American candidate this season, but he’s missed 16 games and that’s forced the Wolverines into the eighth seed in the Big Ten tourney.
LeVert was averaging 16.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists before his injury and Michigan is just not the same without him. Derrick Walton Jr. has done his best job filling in as the team’s top player, averaging 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists, but it’s not enough. Michigan is a team that lives and dies by the three, and that’s not a good sign for a squad on the bubble.
