A look at an updated 2016 ACC Tournament bracket after North Carolina beat Pittsburgh in the quarterfinals
The North Carolina Tar Heels as the No. 1 seed in the 2016 ACC Tournament didn’t play in the first two rounds of the tourney, taking the floor for the first time on Thursday in a quarterfinals matchup with the Pittsburgh Panthers and looking to take the first step towards adding an ACC Tournament title to go with their ACC regular season championship.
Through most of the first half, the Tar Heels were up against the ropes as they struggled mightily offensively. However, a late run in the first half thanks largely to the efforts of Joel Berry on the offensive end helped push North Carolina ahead going into halftime of this first ACC Tournament quarterfinals matchup.
In the second half, the Tar Heels absolutely ran away with the game as Brice Johnson showed up in a major way, finishing the contest with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and five blocks. In the end, North Carolina advanced to the ACC Tournament semifinals comfortably with an 88-71 victory over the Panthers.
Now that North Carolina is the first team to punch their ticket to the semifinals of the 2016 ACC Tournament, let’s take a look at the bracket to see where things stand. For a printable version of this updated bracket, just click on the picture and you’ll be ready to roll.
