5. Poor accuracy and awareness

While the Broncos have plenty of skilled playmakers in their offense, this would be futile if their quarterback is unable to consistently make the necessary throws to move the chains. Kaepernick has proven time and time again that he cannot be relied upon to make accurate throws on a regular basis. This shows in his statistics, as he has only completed 59.9 percent of his passes throughout his career while finishing below the 60 percent mark twice out of his first four full seasons.

Kaepernick has made incredibly foolish decisions with the ball, as he most notably missed a wide-open Torrey Smith in a game against the St. Louis Rams. Smith was left uncovered and would have undoubtedly broken free for a long touchdown, but Kaepernick never took the initiative and passed on throwing to Smith.

There is no doubt that Osweiler and even a past-his-prime Manning would have made that throw. While Manning did not perform particularly well and arguably rode the heels of his defense to the Super Bowl, he possessed exceptional intangibles that Kaepernick does not. This limits the 49ers quarterback’s upside, and the Broncos should not risk their future for this sort of question mark.
