The Denver Broncos may have won Super Bowl 50, but it’s not looking good for them to even make the AFC Playoffs in 2016. Here are five reasons they won’t.

The clock has struck midnight with the Denver Broncos organization. A little over a month ago, the 2015 Broncos handled the heavily favored Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 on February 7 to win the third Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.

While no team outside of the Pittsburgh Steelers has won more games since the AFL/NFL merger than the Broncos, Denver may not even get the chance to appropriately defend its Super Bowl title in 2016. This team’s window of opportunity slammed shut in early March and Denver may be lucky to even finish .500 in 2016.

Surely, the Broncos have a terrific defense in place under defensive coordinator Wade Phillips and a strong working relationship between head coach Gary Kubiak and general manager John Elway, but for several reasons won’t field as strong of a football team it had in 2015 in this upcoming NFL season.

While Denver may not want to admit this, it’s not looking promising here in March 2016 that their favorite football team will even make the 2016 AFC Playoffs. Here are five reasons that the Broncos will be watching the AFC Playoffs from the couch in January 2017.
