Bill Murray, the newest Xavier basketball superfan, tried to rally the Musketeers to a comeback on Friday vs Seton Hall

More incredible than any three-quarter-court buzzer-beaters or anything else of the sort in the 2016 Big East Tournament, the greatest thing about the Big East Tournament has been that arguably one of the most iconic actors of all time in Bill Murray is now a Xavier Musketeers super-fan as his son, Luke Murray, is an assistant for the Musketeers.

Bill Murray showed up on Thursday night as Xavier opened up their Big East Tournament run against the Marquette Golden Eagles, but he was back at it again on Friday night for the matchup against Seton Hall. This time around, as the Musketeers were trailing in the second half, Bill Murray was trying to rally the Xavier fans to fuel a comeback to make it to the Big East Tournament finals:

".@XavierMBB is starting to get it rolling. Bill Murray, yes THE Bill Murray approves! #BIGEASTtourney #MadeAtMSG https://t.co/OgEuAsbBCr— FS1 (@FS1) March 12, 2016"

If Bill Murray doesn’t inspire you to cheer just a bit harder for your team, there’s a good chance that you’re either dead inside or that you don’t know how to properly cheer/respect Bill Murray.

There may not be a more unlikely pair between celebrity fan and college basketball team than Murray and Xavier, but pretty much everyone benefits from it when it’s all said and done. Let’s hope this ends up like Groundhog Day and that every day is a day with Bill Murray rooting on a college hoops team from the crowd with rabid enthusiasm.
